Girls Rock!

Girls Rock!

My nieces birthday is coming up and they’ve decided on a Girls Rock karaoke party.

So, it looks like I’m going to make the cake.  Wheat, gluten and dairy free chocolate, and I have decided on making her a 3D pink guitar, replicating the guitar on her invitations.

I’m so excited that I bought gum paste today to play around with, WOO HOO!!  This will be my very first time working with fondant. (It seems easy enough, in theory, but I’m sure it is going to be difficult.)

It is a good thing I learned the secret for making the layers soft, sugar water sprayed onto the cake before icing each layer!

Hopefully this will give me a couple of days before the party to make the cake, that way I don’t stay up till 3 am like last time..

I guess I had better get dinner started, tbones with port, mushrooms and onions, homemade mashed potatoes, steamed corn and romaine based salad.

If I don’t start school this month or the next, I’m going to have to hit the gym 2x a day so I don’t gain some serious weight with all this good cooking and baking!

Be Sweet,

Heather

Fondant is easy to work with and fun. You have to be careful to not let it dry out while handling it though. Good luck!
